On June 23, Mastercard, one of the largest financial firms in the world, took another step forward in Web3. It launched The Belle Block which consists of an industry group that will focus on “education, conversation and building for the future,” along with leading industry influencers according to its press release. They will educate and empower women to benefit from both these new technologies: Web3 and crypto.Mastercard declared that it believed that technology had the power and ability to build a future that would include everyone. According to a global survey called 2022 New Payments Index, the financial giant found that women had an extra interest in learning more about Web3 and crypto. However, their current understanding of terminology of crypto and digital assets was less “robust” when compared with men.Mastercard believes that there is a “clear opportunity” for increasing their engagement by building a platform that would inform and exchange as well as educate women to overcome the gender gap.
The Belle Block new group is powered by the Global Crypto and Blockchain team of Mastercard. The group is focusing on forming partnerships with the Web3 community as well as those who want to join in to educate more women about blockchain and emerging technologies.The aim of the global team is to deliver the mission of The Belle Block. According to Mastercard, the key building blocks include the following:Business GrowthEducation Entrepreneurship Leadership andLegal and Regulatory Advocacy. One of the ways forward by Mastercard to empower women and educate them about Web3 and crypto has been launched as a part of NFT.NYC Week. The firm brought together four leaders from the Web3 industry to share their knowledge and expertise as part of The Belle Block. The experts areMaggie Love of SheFiDeana Burke of Boys ClubCandace Stewart of HerHouse and Cynthia Huang of Blu3 DAO.
